Rulebook V.6.01

  • General Rules

1.1 Competition will consist of one League only.

1.2 There will be 8 Rounds per Season.

1.3 Catch-up Rounds will be permitted providing that only one Manager is unable to play on the Round’s night.

1.4 If there are more than two Managers unable to play on the Round’s night, Round will be postponed for the next available date arranged and organized by the Host as per Schedule Roster.

1.5 There will be no Online Catch-up Rounds.

1.6 18 Players in each Team.

1.7 Team names can be based on teams in real life.

1.8 Team names can be changed at the end of every Season, providing that the Administrator is informed at least two weeks before the new Season officially commences and that they are within the guidelines of the ESLeague’s Rulebook.

1.9 For initial purchase of Players and throughout the Competition, they will be rated by an Overall Rating system.

1.10 In the initial Season the structure of the Teams will be controlled by the Overall Rating Bracket and the Players will be chosen by the following rules:

– Overall Rating of all players initially cannot exceed 80.

1.11 After the initial Season completion, in the following Seasons all the Players will be rated by the Official Player Update Patch.

1.12 Official Player Update Patch, which will contain updated Overall Ratings for any player in the Competition, will be observed from the www.sofifa.com web page.

1.13 The Official Player Update Patch for the incoming Season will be chosen on the same day when Transfer Round for the next Season is about to commence.

1.14 Official Player Update Patch will be in force from the moment it is applied and will be valid until the next Transfer Round is scheduled.

1.15 Live updates coming from the EA Servers will not affect the stats of the players throughout the ongoing Season.

1.16 If two Teams share the same place at the end of the Season, Head2Head Stats will decide the winner.

1.17 After the completion of the current Season, the new Champion will receive the official Trophy which will stay in his possession until the 8th Round of the next Season.

1.18 Team names of the winner will be permanently engraved on the League’s Trophy.

1.19 The Matches will generally be played on Friday nights unless otherwise agreed upon.

1.20 There will be three consoles (PS5’s, chosen before the Season starts) and previously set up for the ongoing Season as they will stay offline after the Patch is applied to preserve Player’s Ratings.

1.21 Consoles will be carried to the Venues by their respective owners.

1.22 The owners of the consoles will be responsible for bringing fully charged controllers/gamepads and the other equipment needed for the competition.

1.23 The Matches will be played at different venues each week, as scheduled per Schedule Roster.

1.24 Each Manager will be responsible for carrying the ESLeague’s TV, when needed and as scheduled per Schedule Roster.

1.25 If the Manager decides to skip 1 (one) Season, he is entitled to keep his current squad and nobody else can have his Players for that period. 

1.26 If the Manager decides to skip more than 1 (one) Season, his Players will be returned to the Game and available to the other Managers.

1.27 The Manager who is skipping 1 (one) Season is permitted to do a Transfer Round as per schedule, even while being absent from the current Season.

1.28 No Trades/Loans are permitted in-between the Manager who is skipping the Season and the other Managers.

1.29 The deadline for the point 1.26 must be announced is at least 1 week before the Transfer Round for the next Season is about to commence.

  • Transfers/Trades/Loans

2.1 There will be two Transfers/Trades/Loans Periods during any Season.

2.2 Transfer Meeting will be held on the set dates, one during the break after the 4th Round, and another at least a week before the new Season starts, unless an alternative date has been set in advance and agreed upon by all the Managers in the League.

2.3 Order of Picks for any Transfer Meeting in the Competition will be determined by the position of the Teams on the Table at the end of the last Round played (1st pick is the bottom Team on the Table and so on).

2.4 Any Players missing from the new Overall Rating Patch will be considered as sold and will need to be replaced with another Player with the same Rating (Last known from the current Overall Rating Patch)

2.5 Transfer Meeting is officially finished when The Administrator of ESLeague verbally announces the end of the Meeting, on that night.

2.6 Managers will be allowed to have a Cool-Off Period from the moment of the Transfer Meeting completion.

2.7 The Cool-Off Period will always last for two days after the Transfer Meeting has been completed, and will officially end at midnight on the second night.

2.8 Trades/Loans Period is active when Transfer and Cool-Off Period is active and it will cease when they end.

2.9 The terms of the Trades/Loans can be arranged only during Trades/Loans Period and cannot be modified outside those timeframes.

2.10 There will be no limit on number of Transfers/Trades/Loans, providing they are completed within given timeframe and within the guidelines of the ESLeague’s Rulebook.

  • Match Settings

3.1 It is absolutely forbidden to modify Player’s stats to improve Team.

3.2 Teams will receive 3 points for a Win, 1 point for a Draw and no points for Loss.

3.3 Matches will be played in accordance with a Round Schedule for that round.

3.4 Matches will be played on a Home/Away system as per Roster, where the Home Team reserves the right to choose the colour of the jerseys, stadium, camera angles, ball colour and the time of the day.

3.5 ‘Game Settings’ options in The Game will always be set up as following:

– Slider option will be left as default apart from two settings, Goalkeeper (80) and Fullback Marking (80).

– The duration of the Match will be set up to default for offline play.

– ‘Weather’ settings during the Match will be set up to ‘Summer/Clear’.

– ‘Difficulty Level’ in the game will be set up to the highest possible.

– ‘Game Speed’ setting in the game will be set up as default.

– ‘HUD’ option will be set up as ‘Player Name Bar’.

– ‘Radar’ option will be set up as ‘2D’ & ‘Fade’.

– ‘Rules’ options will be set up as ‘Injuries – ON’, ‘Offsides – ON’, ‘Bookings – On’ & ‘Handball – OFF’.

3.6 Gamepad/Controller settings will be set up freely to each Manager’s personal liking.

3.7 Settings on each Console played on the round night must be identical to each other.

3.8 Manager reserves an option to restart the Match due to valid technical problems including but not limited to:

– Console frozen or not responding.

– Gamepads playing up (non-responsive or disconnecting)

– Jerseys too similar.

– Ball not visible.

– Wrong weather setting was chosen.

3.9 An option to restart the Match will apply only if:

– There is mutual agreement between Managers for that action.

– The time on the Match Clock has not exceeded 10 min of play.

– No goals have been scored.

– No Yellow or Red cards have been issued.

– No players have been injured or replaced.

– Match has not been affected in any other way statistically.

3.10 Managers who are throwing and damaging equipment and objects surrounding them in a deliberate way will be punished by a loss of points in the current Game, providing that, and only when:

– At least three persons witness the incident.

– At least one witness reports the incident officially to The Administrator of ESLeague.

– Report of the incident occurs on the night of the incident.

  • Yellow & Red Cards

4.1 Yellow and Red Card system will be implemented in the ESLeague’s Tournament where:

– 2 Yellow Cards – Affected player is suspended for the next Round.

– 2 Yellow Cards acquired in the same game resulting in Red – Affected player is suspended for the next Round.

– 1 Red Card – Affected Player is suspended for the next Round.

4.2 Players receiving a Yellow Card will keep that Card for as long as they are in the Competition.

4.3 After serving the suspension, Cards in question will be deleted from the Player’s card history.

4.4 If one Manager sells the Player with the Card on the Transfer Meeting night, his card history will be wiped clean under condition that the same Manager does not buy the same Player back in the same Transfer Period.

4.5 If one Manager sells the Player with the Card on the Transfer Meeting night and another Manager buys that Player, his card history will be wiped clean under condition that the new Manager does not perform a Trade/Loan for that Player with the Manager who sold the Player.

4.6 If the Manager performs a trade or a loan for the Player with the Card to another Manager during Trade/Loan Period, Card history will follow that Player to a new Team.

4.7 All the cards accrued in the Catch-up Rounds will be forwarded to the next first Round when the Manager is available to play.

4.8 If the Player is suspended for the next Round where the Manager is not available to play, his penalty will be forwarded to the next following Round when the Manager is available to play, including his Catch-up Round (i.e. Player is missing Round 1 but the Manager is not playing that night due to personal reasons. In that case, in Round 2 Manager will not be able to use that Player for both Catch-up Matches and Round 2 Matches).

4.9 If the Player who is suspended for the next round plays on that Round, The Manager will be punished by a loss of the points (official result, 3–0) for each Match that the Player was contributing to.

4.10 If the Player who is suspended for the next round plays on that Round, his fine will be forwarded to the next following Round.

  • Changing Procedures to the Rulebook

5.1 Any amendments, inclusions, exclusions or proposals to this document need to be backed up by at least two other current members of The Board (excluding the person who is proposing a change) and officially presented to the Administrator in order to be considered for a Voting Procedure.

5.2 Voting Procedure with all the suggested changes must be announced at least a week in advance by the Administrator and can only happen during an official ESLeague’s Meeting.

5.3 Voting Procedure must include all the current members of ESLeague.

5.4 51% or more of votes are needed for any of the amendments, Inclusions, exclusions, or proposals to be successful.

5.5 In case of a draw, any of the amendments, Inclusions, exclusions, or proposals are considered unsuccessful.

5.5 If the amendment, Inclusion, exclusion or proposal is successful, it will be added to the Rulebook and be in force as soon as it has been successfully voted on.

5.6 The Administrator position will be up for review at the end of every Season, and if unsatisfactory, election will take place.

  • Glossary

Console – In this case PS5, a piece of electronic marvel that gives us a lot of grief and joy.

Gamepad/Controller – An object used for venting one’s frustration.

The Game – The latest version of an electronic game that is played on a “Console” by manipulating an input device in response to the graphics on the screen.

ESLeague – The most frustrating Tournament in the world.

Administrator – God

Manager – Real person, usually older than 40, the one who takes a lot of grief and joy.

The Board – All the current playing “Managers” in ESLeague.

Player – fictitious character, lives only in PS5, plays for a “Manager”.

Team – A group of fictitious characters, living only in PS5, playing for a “Manager”.

Match – An exciting duel between “Managers” on a “Console” playing “The Game”.

Round – collection of several Matches, played on one night, in-between “Managers”.

Season – 8 Rounds.

League Trophy – We all want it, but only some of us will get it.

Transfer Period – Period of time when new players are bought and the old ones are returned to “The Game”.

Transfer Meeting – It is when all the “Managers” meet to decide who is going to be purchased, or released in the “The Game”.

Trade Period – Deals in-between “Managers”.

Loan Period –Again, deals between “Managers”.

Voting Procedure – Way to introduce new rules, or to scrap the old ones.

This is the only officially authorized copy of the ESL Rules. Any amendments to the above are strictly prohibited.  Any disputes arising out of ambiguities within this document are to be put before The Board in a proper manner, following rules mentioned in the Section 5.
